Honda Australia has raised capped-price servicing costs by 40 per cent for all new petrol and hybrid vehicles bought on or after October 1, 2026, while sparing its first electric model, the Super-One hatch, from the increase.
The move lifts the per-service price from $199 to $279 across the Civic, Accord, Prelude, HR-V, ZR-V and the brand's top-selling CR-V SUV, according to 7NEWS.com.au. The Super-One EV keeps its $199 rate, making it Honda's cheapest model to service in Australia.
What the new Honda service prices cover
Under the higher pricing, the first five scheduled services for petrol and hybrid models now total $1395, up from $995. The Super-One's five-service total remains $995, with services due every 12 months or 15,000km, unchanged since Australian order books opened in August 2026.
That positions the Super-One among the cheapest electric hatchbacks to service locally. The BYD Atto 1, Australia's cheapest EV, costs between $200 and $527 per scheduled service, or $1528 over five years, according to 7NEWS.com.au. The Mini Cooper E charges $1202 for four years of scheduled servicing.
Honda's standard new-vehicle warranty runs five years with unlimited kilometres and can be extended to eight years if the car is serviced at a Honda Service Centre. All models also come with five years of roadside assistance and five years of complimentary Honda Connect.
Honda is committed to delivering innovative, high-quality and fun products at a fair price, all underpinned by an ownership experience that provides peace of mind.
The company said the new $279 rate was locked in for each of the first five services, excluding the newly launched Super-One, which stays at $199.
Why the price rise matters for buyers
This is the first increase to Honda's capped-price service program since 2022, when costs jumped almost 60 per cent, from $125 to $199 per service. Drive reports the rise means Honda no longer undercuts Toyota on servicing costs, ending one of the brand's key ownership arguments since it restructured its Australian business.
Honda introduced its capped-price program, officially named Honda Low Price Service, in 2021 when it abandoned the traditional franchised dealer model for an agency model. Honda Australia now owns the vehicles sitting in dealerships and sets national no-haggle drive-away prices, trading volume for profitability.
A big part of moving to a new business model was a new approach to the ownership value proposition, Honda Australia general manager of ownership experience James Greenwood said in March 2026.
It's not just the price of the car, it's the whole value offering for our customers. That is why Honda developed its market-leading Honda Low Price Service offering.
Greenwood said the five low-price services had generated record customer retention for the brand.
How the Super-One fits Honda's EV strategy
The exemption for the Super-One signals where Honda sees its Australian future. The pint-size electric hatch is Honda's first EV sold locally and one of the drivers of a 1.5 per cent year-to-date sales increase, alongside the revived Prelude sports coupe.
Growth remains relative. Honda is on track to sell about 15,000 vehicles this year, below its post-restructure target of roughly 18,000 annual sales.
The servicing gap between the Super-One and its petrol siblings also feeds into a wider debate about the lifetime costs of electric motoring. The Age reported this week that electric vehicle owners pay about 40 per cent more than petrol owners in insurance premiums, an average of $843 a year, even as running costs such as servicing generally run lower.
