Australian musician G Flip and Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause have announced their separation after more than four years together, confirming the news in emotional statements posted to Instagram on 26 October.
Stause, 45, shared a tearful video message in which she said the pair had agreed to part ways, admitting the breakup left her feeling like a failure while insisting her love for the Melbourne-born performer had not faded. G Flip, whose real name is Georgia Claire Flipo, posted a parallel statement saying their head and heart were heavy and asked for privacy, according to 7NEWS.com.au.
What the couple said about the separation
Stause framed the split as a decision made with mutual respect.
We have agreed to treat this public separation with respect for each other. That's not hard for me because I am in love with this person.
She acknowledged she did not yet have full clarity on what went wrong, saying that with time come the lessons a person is meant to learn. She described the process of healing as hard and painful, and reflected on whether the relationship counted as a miss at all.
I had an amazing over-four-years with G so maybe that's not a miss. It's just coming to terms with it being a different ending to what you had imagined.
G Flip, 33, kept their message brief. They said they would always love Stause, that the pair would always share a special connection, and that they cherished their memories together deeply.
My head and heart are feeling very heavy right now, and I'm not able to talk, but I want to thank you all for your support and appreciate you respecting our privacy at this difficult time.
USA Today reported that the announcement ends a relationship that had spanned four years together and three years of marriage, according to the outlet.
How the relationship began
The couple first connected in October 2021 at a Halloween party in Los Angeles, after a brief earlier meeting through Stause's work as a real estate agent. In an interview with Vogue Australia, the pair recalled that G Flip invited Stause to a Tones and I show they were performing at, and both arrived unknowingly wearing matching skeleton costumes.
Stause was still dating her Selling Sunset co-star Jason Oppenheim at the time. That relationship ended in December 2021.
She confirmed the romance publicly during the Selling Sunset reunion in May 2022, telling host Tan France that G Flip was non-binary and used they/them pronouns, and describing the musician as an extremely talented performer. The romance had begun after Stause agreed to appear in one of G Flip's music videos.
A Las Vegas wedding and later vow renewals
The couple married in Las Vegas in May 2023. Stause shared the news on Instagram with a video set to G Flip's song Be Your Man, captioning it:
