Selena Gomez sells former Encino home for $7.4m after Beverly Hills upgrade
Pop icon Selena Gomez has sold her former Encino residence in Los Angeles for $7.4 million ($US5.399 million), four months after listing the property and shortly after acquiring a $48 million ($US35 million) marital mansion in Beverly Hills with husband Benny Blanco.
The 34-year-old singer and actress purchased the six-bedroom, 8.5-bathroom dwelling for $6.7 million ($US4.89 million) in 2020, around three years before she began dating Blanco, 38, whom she wed in September 2025, according to Realtor reports.
After the couple purchased a much larger Beverly Hills dwelling for $48 million ($US35 million) in February 2025, Gomez no longer required her former bachelorette pad, which sits on just under an acre.
Property with a rock history
Gomez's ownership of the dwelling was mentioned in the listing, which also noted that the property was formerly home to music legend Tom Petty, who had the home custom built in 1989 and owned it until 2017, when it was sold just a few months before his death.
Before Gomez purchased the property six years ago, it underwent a meticulous renovation and is now described as a private celebrity compound that evokes a magical vision of romance, inspiration, and tranquillity.

Inside the Encino estate
The five-bedroom mansion with soaring ceilings and a gourmet kitchen features a lower level that includes a wine cellar, gym, massage room, creative work area, kitchen, vocal booth, den, and guest suite.
Upon entering the home, guests are greeted with an expansive living area featuring a chic fireplace.
The main level includes a spectacular primary suite, complemented by an upper-level second primary suite and four additional bedroom suites. The kitchen features marble countertops, an island, and a brick stove, while the primary bathroom offers a dual vanity, a glass-enclosed shower, and a large soaking tub.
The lower level includes a vocal booth, thought to have been part of Petty's original recording studio, which likely served as a space for Gomez to write her recent hits.
Outside, the property features numerous entertaining areas, a swimming pool and spa, a cabana with bar, fire pit, al fresco dining area, and a cascading waterfall and stream flowing into the pool.
The couple's new Beverly Hills mansion
Gomez and Blanco purchased their $48 million ($US35 million) marital abode in Beverly Hills in December 2024, the same week they got engaged. The couple shared their engagement news on December 11, when Gomez revealed that Blanco proposed during a Taco Bell picnic.
The property comprises two lots housing an expansive main residence and two separate guesthouses, one with its own studio and the other with a home theatre. Prior to the purchase, the property was owned by a famous Hollywood director, according to TMZ.
The Spanish-inspired mansion features a spiral staircase, library, fitness centre, pool, and a glass greenhouse solarium. The property was purchased in an off-market deal via an LLC associated with Blanco's business manager.
The property last sold in August 2021 for $42.5 million ($US30.7 million). Gomez recently shared glimpses inside the couple's home, revealing colourful shelves, blue kitchen cabinets, and a rose-covered patio.
